Ray Abernathy is a Washington, D.C.-based speech writer and communications consultant. His short stories have been published by the South Dakota Review and the Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. His nonfiction articles, essays, and book reviews have appeared in In These Times, Politics Daily, and The Brooklyn Rail.

He is also the author of two novels, Stepping on the Cracks: The Notebooks of Scooter Thompson and Pete and Max Take a Walk (on the Upper West Side). He writes a literary/commentary blog www.fromtheleftbankofthepotomac.com.
